Titan ICT has been engaged by the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR) to represent the Institute in all aspects of Information Technology for its two new state-of-the-art medical research facilities located at the QEII Medical Campus and the Murdoch Activity Campus.

With WAIMR having no internal IT resources of its own, Titan was appointed for the end-to-end design and manage implementation as well as acting as the Interim CIO for WAIMR’s multi-million dollar IT system for its new buildings.

Work commenced with developing an IT vision that would support the business strategy taking into account the overall business objectives of all the key stakeholders who include University of Western Australia, Western Australian Health Department and Lions Eye Institute, and numerous other research groups.

Consequently the vision for the buildings is to provide research institutes with a highly collaborative environment that facilitates the sharing and transfer of data, between research groups, whilst maintaining individual security and governance requirements. The high tech facilities incorporate a large scale data management system required for the management and preservation of significant volumes of research data over many years.

Titan’s IT consultants have driven the development of the IT Strategy, Enterprise Architecture, sourcing and procurement of key technologies and implementation services as well as the Project Management for the entire IT programme. Importantly too, Titan has worked closely with the building project managers and architects during the design and construction phases to ensure effective overall planning, and to achieve the buildings’ Practical Completion deadlines.

As a result of Titan’s collaboration and consultation process with all stakeholders, our responsibility for the end-to-end strategy, design and implementation, our independence in, and understanding of the best technologies and sourcing strategies in the marketplace, WAIMR have a project that remains on schedule, to budget and focused on achieving all of WAIMR requirements.

With the project in its final stages of implementation, WAIMR will soon deliver leading-edge technology to medical researchers who will have access to first-class IT facilities to rival that of any of its kind in the world.
