Project Overview
Titan ICT has been involved in and continues to provide engineering advice and assistance on Rio Tinto’s 4G wireless project.
This successful experience has started with assisting in business case development and technology selection. As the project gained approvals, Titan ICT completed the technical specifications and assisted BHPB in Vendor selection and implementation of a proof of concept into a mine site.
Work included software modelling of LTE performance in a mining environment, definition and specification of an LTE core for evaluation, assessment of LTE UE devices and involvement in the preparation, negotiation and awarding of a vendor supply contract. Titan ICT was involved in all aspects of the LTE system factory acceptance testing, subsequent installation, commissioning and optimisation. Other areas of involvement included the interfacing and integration of layer 2 legacy technologies.
Presently Titan ICT is still assisting Rio Tinto in its PoC operations as they roll out their fleet and user interfaces.
